Our race is the perfect mix of competition, and family friendly fun. Our race has an amazing environment that is buzzing with runners reuniting with friends and ramping up for this early morning race.
We are proud to be Race #3 in the 2019 Big Hammock Race Series! Our race has a warm family vibe, because most of the people at our race either know each other through other races, or are friends with each other through The Cornerstone School. The Cornerstone School is highly represented at the race, and there is a large number of very excited kids ready to set a new PR. We also have our partners at VOCAL on site, who bring the 4-legged friend element into the mix. The Cornerstone Leads the Way 5K is one of the only dog friendly races, which gives an excuse to get the WHOLE family out on a beautiful Saturday morning. Speaking of beautiful, The Baseline Trailhead is a very secluded, scenic run on a nice track through the Greenway. Our race is an enjoyable time with friends and family that is not too intimidating, but still holds some of the stiffest competition in the local area.

The proceeds from the race go towards The Cornerstone School's tuition assistance program. This program helps keep our independent non-profit school affordable and accessible to a wide array of diverse socio-economic groups.
The race earnings are also aiding our friends at VOCAL in their goal to solve the homeless pet problem through prevention, community outreach, adoption and collaboration. Funds raised by the race will help VOCAL in their efforts to:
1. Operate their TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) program for community cats
2. Provide subsidized spay-neuter surgeries through their Tammy Green Daniels Fix the Future Fund
3. Provide care and shelter to homeless cats and dogs while preparing them for adoption
We are awarding Special Speed Challenger Medals to the top 600 finishers, as well as Award Medals for the top finishers in each age division.
This is an early morning run that starts off at 8:00am for the runners and 8:05am for the walkers. Children 5 and under are FREE!
So grab your family and friends (both 4-legged and 2), come out on September 21, 2019, and help us run, walk and wag our way to a better community. Your hard fought miles on the track will directly benefit a deserving child who will now get a chance at an exceptional education tailored to fit their learning style, as well as continue VOCAL's mission to make Marion County a 100% no-kill county.
